In recent years, the emergence of robotic technologies for architectural design and construction has designers wonder whether robots will change the way construction is done in the future. The use of robotics manufacturing in the fields of architecture, art and design has brought the industry closer to prominent research institutes. Robots have been used by industrial manufacturers for years, but until recently, they did not receive much attention from architects. In the age of digitalization, virtualization, and computing, the relationship between architects and robots is growing. Robots are automated and programmable mechanism that can help with the digital construction process. In fact, employing robots is a more efficient approach that can decrease the time of cost of construction.

Robotism refers to the policy and process of using robots for various purposes, which in particular in this workshop, the principles of their use in the process of architectural construction were discussed.

CEAT held this workshop on Digital design and robotic construction for 10 days in collaboration with the Digital Construction House of the University of Arts and Tavan-e-Mohr Company in December 2019 at the University of Tehran. The workshop was attended by a number of students from the University of Tehran, as well students and graduates of architecture from other universities.

During the first part of this workshop, software tutorials and lectures on the subject were described by the course instructors. In the second part, in order to get acquainted with the "Coca" robot, researchers in groups of 5 people first designed a small-scale sample and then produced readable code for the "Coca" robot in the Grasshopper software and built it by a robot stationed in the workshop. The third part of the workshop was dedicated to designing students' ideas for the final pavilion; And after each group developed their ides, finally a design was selected for the final construction and the structural codes were prepared and the CNC parts were installed by the robot.
